Nowadays there are many schools coming up with various online programs for different majors. Many wonder, what's a good school to study nursing informatics? There are many schools that offer online and offline masters degree program. Many of them are very similar, so is a matter of deciding what school fits your location and budget.
Health Informatics Salary However, there are certain schools to avoid when going for online degrees and one of them is Kaplan University and the other one is Phoenix University. Basically these 2 universities charge tons of money and they employ people who don't care about the degree. They are basically scam institutions which try to milk students for the most money possible. Recently an online article surfaced from a previous recruiter for one of these schools saying that they got paid more than the teachers because Kaplan's goal was to make the most money from students. You can read many nightmares stories about this scamming school if you simply do a google search of kaplan ripoff. Do the same search for Phoenix University ripoff and the nightmate stories about. Therefore when looking for any online school, it is very wise to google them as "university name ripoff" or "university name review" and try to inform yourself about the specific school you're looking into. Of course, the safest thing to do is go to a university that is already known for their programs offline, and if they offer online programs, then try to see if their offerings suit you. It is at least a relief to know that if an offline course program exists, most likely students will either be pleased or displeased about their degrees and this can lead you to determine if the school is worth your money or not. Nursing Informatics The next question is, what type of masters will prepare you the best for a career in informatics? It is my biased opinion that no school program will prepare you 100% for an informatics career. Maybe the program will introduce you to the concepts, but no degree is going to replace on the job learning type of training. For example, what nursing program out there that will prepare somebody 100% to be a nurse right out of school? No such program exists. What a degree will give you is exposure to the subjects and the chance to later interview for a job. Many jobs out there require a master's degree for managerial positions, but the most challenging part will be finding a job right out of school because many employers are looking for experienced candidates. It is definitely a catch 22. How can I get a job if i don't have experience? And that's where choosing the right school can help. This is another criteria that should be considered when selecting a school. What type of career placement program does the school have?
